Supported Employment Programme

New stores opening in Elmira have brought about new opportunities for the Supported Employment program.

Grocery StoreTwo individuals have taken full advantage of these new opportunities to acquire part-time positions at the new “NoFrills” store on Arthur Street. Wojtek Monkiewicz and Andrew Mitchell have both been hired on.

Wojtek washired prior to the store being opened and was able to participate in the store orientation and got to see the store long before the general public was allowed into shop. Wojtek is a storeclerk responsible for providing customer service, stocking all types of products and making suret here are enough boxes for customers at the front of the store. Wojtek is doing very well in this new position and with his positive attitude towards work he should do quite well in his new endeavors.

Andrew Mitchell has just recently been hired to provide interior and exterior cleaning throughout the store. Andrew’s duties include collecting used flyers from shopping carts, maintaining a stock of paper towels, toilet paper and soap in the washrooms. Andrew is also responsible for cleaning the parking lot and garbage’s throughout the store. Andrew also displays a positive attitude toward work and with time he will become a very competent employee of No Frills.

The No Frills owners Paul and Adele Henderson have been very receptive to the Supported Employment Program and business owners like the Henderson’s who are willing to try alternative staffing methods will make a big difference for the Supported Employment Program and its clients.
