Community Agency Linkages
Believe it or not we don’t have all the answers. However when we don’t know, we likely know who does.
How can I access support ?
Entering into the service system maze can be a frustrating, confusing and anxious experience. In an effort to streamline this process and ensure that it is positive and seamless, the Waterloo Region service providers support a single access point mechanism called the Developmental Services Access Centre (DSAC). This agency is a one stop shopping experience for most supports for children and adults with a developmental handicap. It will assist you in determining your needs and making the appropriate referrals. The contact number for the Developmental Services Access Centre is 741-1121.
Is there a local contact?
The Family Support Program, administered by DSAC, maintains a local presence by having an Elmira satellite office, which is housed at the Elmira Administration Office (669-3205). Family Support, which complements the rest of Elmira & District Association for Community Living’s broad range of services, is a support program for people who have a family member with a developmental handicap living with them at home.
How can the Elmira & District Association for Community Living be of assistance?
If you would like to talk to us generally about how we may support your family member or an individual you are assisting please don’t hesitate to call us at 669-3205 and ask for either our Services Director or Executive Director.
We will answer your questions and start you on the route to obtaining the supports you require.
