Recreation Committee

The Recreation Committee is comprised of Association Staff who volunteer their time to co-ordinate and supervise community based recreational activities.

Who can attend?

Individuals 18 years of age or older with a developmental handicap attending our day programs or who live in our residential homes or at home with their family can participate.

When do the activities happen?

The activities are usually planned to happen in the evenings and on weekends. They are planned in the Elmira and Kitchener Waterloo area primarily. Trips out of the area to Toronto and surrounding communities are co-ordinated less frequently during the course of the year.


What activities are available?

  • Special Olympics
  • bowling
  • floor hockey
  • baseball
  • theme dances
  • trips to events out of town
  • summer carnival
  • weekend getaways
