Six Star Maintenance

Six Star had the honour of putting on a presentation at the ORWC Conference in September of this year. This opportunity came about as a result of Six Star being presented with the Innovations of Excellence Award from the ORWC Conference in the fall of 2005.

This award recognizes innovative approaches that are reflective of integration and community interaction, and Six Star definitely is a leader in this category. The conference was well attended by many support providers throughout Ontario who were all very interested in finding out the Who, What, When, Where and Why about a business such as Six Star.

It was this information that was presented by three members of Six Star – John Bish, Ryan Martin, and I. Everything from why Six Star was started, how we acquired customers, how landscape skills were developed, who we work for, what equipment we use, and many other facts and figures about Six Star were presented. Both John and Ryan did a fantastic job helping present all this information and answering many questions about the business because it seemed everyone was interested in setting up such a business at their own agency. John added comic relief throughout the presentation and Ryan was the power point master and without their help it may have not been such a success.

We were informed after the conference that our presentation was one of the most well received sessions at the conference.John, Ryan and myself would also like to acknowledge the hard work put in by the other partners at Six Star that did not present, but stayed in Elmira to keep the business operating – Chris Biesel, Margaret Moser, Andrew Martin and Lisa Zyta.
